Autumn Tonic - Immune boost

It's that time of year again! Where our bodies get a little caught up with all the coughs and colds going around. Since we have all been in isolation for the best part of two years it's going to be really noticeable that our immune systems are compromised and not at their best. As well as a hot lemon water each morning Ive added this tonic to the cupboard of daily go too's! I will shout out loud that natural, organic ingredients go far with little tonics like this, so invest in the good stuff and you will feel a big difference in your health, if there is one thing to invest your time and money into.... its your body and mind!

INGREDIENTS

+ Fresh turmeric

+ Fresh ginger

+ Manuka honey

+ Cardamon seeds

RECIPE

  1. Boil the kettle with filtered water, enough for two cups.

  2. Break off a 'medium finger' of the ginger and grate.

  3. Grate a medium finger of turmeric BEWARE it dyes ANYTHING yellow...including you!

  4. Add your grated turmeric and ginger to a saucepan.

  5. Add 4 cardamon pods to the mix and then add two cups boiling water.

  6. Simmer on a low heat for 20-30 minutes.

  7. Take off the heat and allow to cool before adding the honey, did you know that heating honey decreases its nutritional value? Google it, its an important thing to learn about!

  8. Stir in 2 tbsp manuka honey once your liquid is 'warm'.

  9. Place your tonic in an air tight bottle and store in the fridge, use it over a week as and when. Its nice to top up with warm water if you wanted it as a tea!

I like to leave all of the ingredients floating around and eat them in the drink (yep, Im odd!) but you're more than welcome to strain it through a muslin cloth before storing it!

This is a wonderful drink to not only enjoy this time of year but all year round! Imagine it really cold in summer with a few tea bags in? YUM!

I hope you enjoy this and I hope it helps with any ailments you may have this time of year.

Loads of love,

V x
