🌿Day 26 #wildlove30days 🌿Supine hand to big toe pose - Supta Padangusthasana A lovely leg lengthening stretch which is a little kinder to the lower back. Starting reclined on the floor, this is a great pose to wind down the practice, especially if the legs are well warmed up. You're welcome to use a strap around the foot to make it easier on the shoulders and gives us this sense of softening the upper body. Allow the legs and arms to relax, be conscious of the space in the chest, upper back and feel the pelvis relaxed in a neutral position on the floor. Begin by bending the right leg to the chest, taking an inhale feel the belly inflate and press towards the right thigh, as you exhale slowly flex the right foot and guide the heel towards the ceiling. Create as much length as you can within the leg here, EVEN if it means bringing your leg lower. As well as lengthening the hamstrings and back of the leg this will gain strength within the thigh and hip flexors, triggering stability. Always become aware of this balance between a stretch and stability within the pose. As you inhale allow the upper back to press into the mat, as you exhale maybe guide the foot closer towards the head or guide the heel higher to the ceiling. As well as the previous poses this is one for the ego! Take your time, be patient and don't really try so hard. With the weight of the hand/or strap you can become heavy and let gravity do the work!! Repeat the other side, breathe deep for 5 - 10 breaths, 2-3 minutes.
