I wanted to share with you one final class of the year, a deeply relaxing and de-stress practice with Yin & Yoga Nidra, its open to everyone and a wonderful practice to share with loved ones. All online classes are per household so if your home with friends and family they can join in too! Yin yoga means to be still, to rest, to soften, to just be. This is something we may all strive for in life, to not get lost in the fast pace of life but be calm and equanimous within it. Yoga Nidra is yogic sleep! If you enjoy the relaxation at the end of classes this will be a super long and extended version of it, its a guided meditation where you focus on body parts, so the mind is attentive, the body relaxes and slowly you may find yourself drifting in and out of sleep states. The idea in yoga Nidra is to STAY AWAKE, but nodding off is normal so don't worry too much if you do, with practice it becomes easier.
You will be guided through a series of postures to stretch and release the whole body, using cushions, bolsters and blankets as support we hold each pose for a period of time (normally 3-5 minutes each). The postures are not advanced but may still highlight a little challenge as you are reminded to be still within them, but you are then taught to soften and relax and you will soon find yourself relaxing into the pose rather than fidgeting to get out of it!
