Travelling & Anxiety

We are sending you love from another of our favourite lands, I’ve had quite a few revelations since the flight over & so many of you know how I feel about flying, it’s so interesting to feel the sensations of anxiety in my body & it’s been really powerful to watch where my thoughts wander. The flight was great, but for my internal world it’s the same cycle I go through, I’m proud I continue to move through my discomfort & push myself into something I could easily choose to avoid. I’ve never enjoyed flying since early teens & realised so much of it is to do with sensory overload, I’ve came really far sitting in the seat & able to look out the window.
Gus got to sit in the cockpit with the pilot of the plane we flew over in & I was amazed, he opened his arms to the windows & said this is what freedom feels like (the pilot), it’s his normal & told us about the flights he had that week. It inspired me & allowed me to observe a new perspective & made my shoulders completely soften.
It’s good for me to notice these waves, it’s also good for me to notice as soon as I’m here I feel absolutely no anxiety or overwhelm, it’s my own mind playing tricks on me.
This is yoga, this is meditation, the ability to sit within the waves & feel it all without reacting. To quietly observe your body & mind with kindness & compassion, what you’re feeling is a signal, it’s up to you to explore what the story is, keep moving through the waves, that’s where the growth is.
Grateful for @willy_wombats love, understanding & late night pep talks when I have things like this on my mind, thank you for being my rock.
I hope that by me sharing this it reminds you of how far you have came, how strong you are & that even if I sit at the front of the class teaching you that we are all on this journey of being human together.
